Noelle Marie was born at home on a gorgeous December day. It was such an honour to photograph and document her amazing birth story.
I received a call from Nicole the night before, letting me know that early labour had started. I headed to bed knowing I would hear from Nicole or her family soon, once labour had intensified. I got the call from Nicole’s Mom the next morning, who let me know that things were moving along and Nicole was around 5 cm dilated. I decided to head over to the house at that point … and I’m really glad I did. By the time I got there about 45 min later, Nicole was around 9 cm and progressing beautifully.
When I walked into the house, Nicole was in the birthing pool handling the intense contractions so incredibly. I was in awe of her strength and ability to breathe through and handle such consistent pain. She even cracked a couple jokes! Nicole’s husband Nathan was by her side the entire time and got into the pool to support her for the delivery … at 12:30 pm, sweet Noelle entered the world. She was welcomed with so much love and her proud big sister Paisley was very excited to meet her as well.
I spent a couple hours with everyone after the birth which allowed me to capture some beautiful moments between Nicole and Noelle and the new family of four. It was wonderful to see and feel so much emotion in their home on such a special day.
A huge shout out to the Morning Star Midwives for being so incredible and such a wonderful support to Nicole and her family.
