I am super excited to share these photos with you and tell you a bit about this incredible DIY wedding! Mark is my cousin and very dear friend and his wife Kim is such a wonderful person in every way and a very close friend as well. Photographing their wedding was pretty special for me and I was so glad they asked me to do it.
Mark & Kim met through friends in 2006 but the encounter was brief. It was three years later when they ran into each other again and things started from there. I know a salsa dance class was involved in the story somehow … and then their first date was at Higher Ground, which is where we did some of their engagement photos.
Mark & Kim’s wedding took place just outside of Sooke, BC at the absolutely breathtaking Craidelonna Lodge. Most of their guests arrived a couple days before the wedding to take in the gorgeous sights and relax and hang out with everyone. The scenery was so unreal, it was hard to imagine a place more perfect for the bride and groom to say their I do’s.
What completely blew me away the most about their wedding was the level of detail at every turn. I really can’t fathom how much time and effort went into everything they did. They had so many unique things included in the day that really portrayed who they are as a couple but what stood out the most were the personalized messages at every reception seat that they wrote to each guest who attended. Awesome, right?! So amazing. But I’m really not surprised as that’s just how these two roll – always thinking of ways to make a person feel loved and appreciated.
Congratulations Mark & Kim – your wedding was perfect. The love you two have for each other was incredibly obvious and felt by everyone. You made every guest feel important and your kind words to all will never be forgotten. Thank you for allowing me to be a part of your special day the way I was – I love you both more than words could ever say. Matt, Landon and I wish you many years of happiness together.
